Process is everything ... process becoming form, form becoming content. In the words of artist Jasper Johns on how to make art, “Take something, do something to it, do some thing else to it”
What drives my work is not knowing where a beginning will take me, where it will end. I think and work 3-dimensionallly, loving the physical sensation of material in my hands and getting into, around and through a piece.
At the Maine College of Art (MECA) I majored in sculpture, minored in printmaking and experimented with everything in between. What I fell in love with was process so inherent in sculpting and printmaking and incorporating other media that a particular piece might guide me to.
Fascinated with encaustic years before so many artists were working with it, I took a workshop in Santa Fe. Its properties, process and possibilities incorporated everything I am about including my love of process, 3- dimensionality, and mixed media, With only a few “rules”, I am free to experiment, explore, discover.
